The Babe is excited to announce the launch of their new music series featuring co-headliners ALEXANDER (indie/alternative) and JD DEBRIS & THE MELEE (poetry/jazz fusion)! We’ve partnered with The Wandering Stage for pro staging, sound and lighting and are excited to bring an eclectic mix of local and regional artists to Salem!!! The show will take place indoors at The Babe (268 Washington Street, Salem, MA 01970).

ALEXANDER is the music project of Boston-based musician and educator Alex Fatato. In 2018, Alexander released their debut album ‘Settle Down’, which was recognized by NPR for lyrics that “get a grip on distorted thinking.” In 2024, Alexander released their fourth album, ‘Lucky Life’ which was listed as one of Allston Pudding’s ‘Favorite Local Albums of 2024’. They will release their third EP, EP3, on April 4th, 2025. Alexander’s music is for everyone.

JD DEBRIS & THE MELLE mix bandleader J.D. Debris’ poetry — alternately sung and spoken — with hypnotic underground jazz. The author of a prize winning debut book, The Scorpion’s Question Mark (Autumn HousePress, 2023), Debris carries on the tradition of Gil Scott-Heron as a poet whose work shines brightest when combined with a boisterous live ensemble. The Melee bring a grimy, punkish approach to the jazz and Latin rhythms underlining Debris’ verses, with an improvisational energy that guarantees no two shows are the same. J.D. Debris’ newest single, “Who Shot Alexis Argüello?” is available on all streaming platforms, with a full-length slated to follow in 2025.
