About this Event
Join Punto Urban Art Museum (PUAM) and artist Luis Rivas to discuss his latest work and community art project in Salem’s Point neighborhood (“El Punto”). PUAM will install seven 12-foot sculptures in Salem’s Palmer Cove Park, with each sculpture taking the form of Muñecas Sin Rostro, ceramic folk art figurines that originated in the Dominican Republic. Six sculptures will be painted by local artists based on designs created by Point neighborhood residents. Luis Rivas will paint his sculptures in collaboration with local students. This project bridges cultures through storytelling, elevating the lived experiences of residents and creating agency for artists and residents in the community and PUAM’s arts program.
