Armand (Robin Williams) and Albert (Nathan Lane) have built the perfect life for themselves tending to their Miami drag club. But their tranquility is shaken when their son announces that he’s getting married to the daughter of ultra-conservative Senator Keeley (Gene Hackman), and the senator will only give his blessing on the union if he meets his potential in-laws first. Armand and Albert decide to put on the performance of a lifetime, disguising themselves as a heterosexual couple espousing traditional values when meeting the senator for dinner to ensure the wedding goes ahead.
