“THE BRASS TACKS OF WRITING ARTIST GRANTS” W/ BEVERLY ARMY WILLIAMS
Wednesdays, May 31, June 7 & 14 2023 | 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM (in Zoom)
This is a 3-part series. Artists are asked to attend all sessions.
Learn about writing a grant application from start to finish. Over the course of three sessions, participants will review common application models and draft their own grant sections, as well as have the opportunity to exchange feedback with their peers. Sessions will focus on the following:
Part 1, GOALS & OBJECTIVES: Participants will articulate the Why of their proposal, with concrete goals and achievable objectives to ensure project success.
Part 2, PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Participants will fine-tune the proposal’s activities and sequencing, using clear language any funder can understand.
Part 3, BUDGETS: Participants will explore best practices for writing a fundable budget.
Workshop participants will leave this series with a strong draft grant proposal ready to be adapted to any funders’ call for proposals. Participants should be prepared to actively engage in a variety of writing exercises and are strongly encouraged to attend live in order to participate in multiple peer-feedback sessions with their fellow attendees (not available to those who only watch the recording). Beverly Army Williams is a writer and textile artist who has authored and co-authored winning grant proposals at all funding levels. She lives in the woods of Connecticut where she hikes daily.
This workshop is suited for artists of all disciplines with a project they want to turn into the building blocks of any grant proposal. 40 participants live max.
Open to artists throughout Massachusetts thanks to funding from the Mass Cultural Council.
This workshop will be recorded! If you’re unable to attend the live session, you can still register via Zoom and, if approved, we’ll send you a link to access the recording after the workshop is complete.
