Festival and open vendor market season in Salem, MA is upon us as the weather is, albeit slowly, starting to get warmer and the days are getting longer. Salem Arts Festival is coming up June 7-8, the Salem Farmer’s Market begins on June 13, but in May, the thing to look forward to is The Salem Flea!

Now in its fourth season, the Salem Flea features a juried selection of vendors of vintage and up-cycled furniture, vintage clothing, collectibles, antiques, architectural salvage as well as a select number of jewelry, art, and handmade goods by local artisans. The Flea – based in Salem’s Derby Square – takes place on the third Saturday of every month from May through October.

“We’ve grown over the years to a market that is 40+ curated vendors,” says Flea founders Ryan Berkeley and Matthew Staples, “We’ve got a fully booked season with old and new vendors alike.”

The Salem Flea organizers also accept new vendor applications throughout the entire season. Just because a vendor wasn’t in the last Salem Flea, it doesn’t mean they can’t join the next one. This policy is what ensures that each market is new and unique.

“Sometimes it’s someone local in town who’s been selling at events for years and has an impressive shop and sometimes it’s someone just starting out,” the founders added. “It’s exciting to watch vendors grow and expand into established shopping destinations. You never know what you’re going to find and each market is unique and a variety of price points.”

The next market is Saturday, May 18th from 10-5 in Derby Square. Click here to learn more about The Salem Flea and Here to apply to be a vendor in the June market.
