Kate Feld: Ghost Wolf Handmade
In your words… Tell us about your organization, business, initiative.
Ghost Wolf Handmade is a business focused on creating original art, unique jewelry and one of a kind products. I create everything myself using quality products and years of experience as an artist and craftswoman.
Tell us a bit about you and why you do what you do? Share your passions for your business, initiative, organization.
I am an oil painter, jewelry maker, and avid up-cycler. Ghost Wolf Handmade is my way of combining all those skills into one business. I focus my paintings on pet portraits because I found that art is most meaningful to me when it becomes a tribute to our furry family members. My jewelry is completely handmade by me with care and attention to detail. I also try to take items destined for the landfill and breathe new life into them using my artistic skills.
What role do you think your business plays in supporting a more creative community?
I think being a part of a creative community is extremely important to help you grow as an artist and as a person. It is easy to get stuck in a thought loop when you are working alone. Sometimes one little piece of feedback can break your brain out of that loop and send you in a bigger and better direction.
What was the last video you watched that made an impact on you?
I really enjoy watching shows where people try to live off the grid without technology. I strongly believe having the ability to create anything with your own two hands helps you appreciate everything you have. Products have basically become meaningless because you can just throw things away and go to the store for a new one. If you don’t have that option, creativity and problem solving flourishes.
What’s the one thing people would be surprised to learn about you our your business?
I named my business after one of my dogs. Her name was Ghost and she was a white Siberian Husky mix. She sadly passed away a few years ago, but her spirit lives on with me.
