Tell us a bit about you and why you do what you do. Share your passions for your business, organization, or initiative.
As the Assistant Fest Director, I’m passionate about amplifying diverse voices and bringing powerful documentary stories to Salem. I love working behind the scenes to create an inspiring, community-centered experience that connects filmmakers and audiences. Seeing the impact these films have on our attendees and our community reminds me why this work is so meaningful.
What is the last thing you read, watched, or listened to that had an impact on you?
The last thing I watched that had an impact on me was Blow The Man Down. It’s set in a small Maine fishing town and has this great mix of suspense and dry, witty humor that really pulled me in. I loved the relationship between the two sisters at the center of it all—how they come together in this intense situation but still keep their sisterly dynamic, full of tension and loyalty. The film’s take on power and control in a tight-knit community had me thinking about how people navigate those dynamics, especially when secrets come into play.
What’s the one thing people would be surprised to learn about you or your business?
Salem Film Festival is incredibly filmmaker-friendly, creating a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for both established and emerging filmmakers. We emphasize personal connections, encouraging filmmakers to participate in Q&As, panels, and networking events that foster meaningful dialogue with audiences and industry professionals alike. The festival offers opportunities to showcase work in intimate, historic venues around Salem, adding a unique charm and sense of place. Plus, we prioritize supporting filmmakers by providing a warm, collaborative environment that celebrates their work and promotes authentic connections.
