About this Event
The Green Homes Workgroup at Sustainable Marblehead is teaming up with Abbot Public Library for a fun and inspiring event for kids! Join us for a creative, hands-on experience based on Chris Van Dusen’s beloved book, “If I Built a House,” designed to spark imagination and encourage sustainability.
Video Screening: “If I Built a House”
Join us for a delightful video reading of “If I Built a House,” where Chris Van Dusen’s whimsical tale of building the ultimate eco-friendly home comes to life! Watch as the fun, inventive story inspires kids to dream big about what a sustainable future could look like.
Kids’ Craft: Build Your Own Eco-Home
Children will have the chance to design and build their very own eco-friendly mini homes using recycled materials. This creative activity will help kids think about sustainability and how small actions can have a big impact on the environment.
To ensure a fun and creative crafting experience, we ask that parents please bring along a few materials for the kids’ DIY eco-homes. Suggested items include:
- Recycled cardboard, paper, or small boxes
- Bottle caps, buttons, or other small reusable objects
- Old magazines or newspapers for cutting and gluing
- Glue, tape, and scissors
Some materials will be provided, but bringing extra supplies is encouraged to help kids create their dream eco-homes!
We are excited to bring this innovative event to life, offering kids and families a chance to learn, create, and be inspired by the power of sustainability. By building their own mini eco-homes, kids will learn about recycling, reusing materials and the importance of environmental responsibility. This program is geared towards ages 5-10, but it’s perfect for all children who love to build, create and imagine new possibilities for a greener world!
This program is in collaboration with Sustainability Marblehead.
