Mayor Kimberley Driscoll is pleased to announce that Salem will hold its Independence Day celebration at the Salem Maritime National Historic Site on Derby Wharf on Wednesday, July 4th. “There’s no better place to celebrate Independence Day than in historic Salem,” said Mayor Driscoll. “Start off bright and early at Salem Common for the annual reading of the Declaration of Independence, spend the day visiting the City’s numerous historic sites and attractions, dine at one of dozens of remarkable restaurants, and end your day at historic Derby Wharf for all of the festivities.”

On June 16th the Boston-based Red Herring Morris Dancers came to Salem, MA for the 2018 Kettle of Fish, an annual event where Morris and Rapper teams from all over New England come to Boston and the surrounding areas for a weekend of dancing, singing, and general noisemaking.

In 1668, merchant and ship-owner John Turner built a house on Salem Harbor that was destined to become one of America’s most beloved historic homes. Designated a National Historic Landmark District in 2007, The House of the Seven Gables is best known today as the setting of world-renowned American author Nathaniel Hawthorne’s 1851 novel.

 The Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) presents the first international traveling exhibition of work by Sally Mann (b. 1951), one of the country’s most influential and distinguished photographers.

Guests also took home a specially-crafted herbal oil blend from The Chaos Factor, and a lovely spring candle from Witch City Wicks, both made exclusively for this event.
