Let’s celebrate Juneteenth with these upcoming events and opportunities:
June is here and Juneteenth is a time to celebrate the historic end of slavery in the United States. The date, June 19th 1865 marks the emancipation of enslaved people in Texas- two and a half years after the famed Emancipation Proclamation which freed enslaved people in confederate states after the Civil War. Today Juneteenth is recognized as a Federal Holiday thanks to activists and allies across the nation. Here on the North Shore of Massachusetts, we support our friends at North Shore Juneteenth Association and beyond to celebrate and uplift this important holiday.
