The North Shore Juneteenth Association is proud to host a series of events throughout Black History Month that highlight the rich diversity, culture, and achievements of the Black community. These events offer a vibrant mix of art, education, and celebration, inviting the community to engage, learn, and honor the significant contributions of Black Americans.
1. Opening Reception for Black History Month Art Exhibition: A Celebration of Black Excellence
Date and Time: February 2nd, 2024, 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Location: Galleries at Lynn Arts
This art exhibition, curated by Nicole McClain and LaCrecia Thomson, showcases the works of talented Black artists from the North Shore. It’s a perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the artistic expressions of Black culture and connect with the local art community.
2. Local Black Excellence Display Opening Ceremony
Date and Time: February 6th, 2024, 6:30 PM
Location: Lynn City Hall
A key highlight of the month’s events is the “Local Black Excellence Display” at Lynn City Hall. This ceremony honors the achievements of local Black leaders, artists, entrepreneurs, and change-makers. The 2024 honorees are:

3. Celebrating Black History: A Paint Workshop
Date and Time: February 17th, 2024, 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Location: Lynn Arts Inc, 25 Exchange St, Lynn, MA
Organizer: Nicole Mcclain
In collaboration with Galleries At Lynn Arts, this interactive workshop invites participants to paint the Juneteenth flag and learn about its symbolism. The event includes arts and crafts, lunch, and a storytelling session, offering a blend of creativity and cultural education.
