About this Event

Join Historic Beverly for this month’s 3 in 30 program as we explore the stories stitched into three remarkable textile objects from the Historic Beverly collection. In just 30 minutes, guests will take a closer look at how fabric, needlework, and handmade objects can reveal powerful connections to daily life, artistry, and American history across generations.

This engaging program will feature a rare pocketbook dating to the 1600s, offering insight into early craftsmanship and personal belongings from colonial life; a beautifully detailed sampler from 1793 that reflects education, creativity, and the cultural traditions of young women in the early republic; and a Civil War-era quilt made from wartime fabrics, demonstrating how textiles often carried both practical and emotional significance during times of conflict and change.

Through these objects, participants will discover how textiles preserve stories of labor, identity, memory, and survival while highlighting the skill and artistry behind historic handmade work.

Perfect for history enthusiasts, textile lovers, and the simply curious, 3 in 30: The Fabric of History offers a fast-paced and fascinating glimpse into the woven threads of the past.
