Creative Collective Editorial Policy

Real Stories. Real Standards. Real Community.

Creative Collective publishes content that celebrates and supports Essex County's entrepreneurs, makers, and community builders. This policy outlines how we approach the stories we tell and the standards we uphold.

What We Publish

Our website features:

  • Member Spotlights - Stories highlighting the humans behind Essex County businesses
  • Community News - Updates on local events, openings, milestones, and collaborations
  • Resources & Insights - Practical information drawn from our ecosystem of 300+ members
  • Creative Collective Explores - Consumer-focused guides to discovering local businesses and experiences

Our Editorial Values

Accuracy We verify information directly with the businesses and individuals we feature. Member spotlights and business features are reviewed with the member before publication to ensure accuracy.

Transparency We're upfront about who we are. Creative Collective is a membership organization serving Essex County businesses. The businesses we feature are part of our community. We believe this relationship strengthens rather than compromises our coverage - we know these businesses personally and can tell their stories authentically.

Respect We portray every business and individual with dignity. We don't publish content that diminishes, stereotypes, or misrepresents our members or the broader community. Every business in our ecosystem matters equally, whether you're a solo maker or an established organization.

Regional Focus Our coverage centers on Essex County and the North Shore region of Massachusetts. We're here to amplify local voices and strengthen our regional economy.

Member Features & Consent

When someone joins Creative Collective, they're offered a member feature as part of their membership. By participating in a feature, members consent to:

  • Being photographed and/or interviewed
  • Having their story shared on our website and social media channels (100,000+ combined reach)
  • Being included in Creative Collective marketing materials

Members may request edits to their feature or ask for removal at any time by contacting us directly.

Photography & Visual Content

We use original photography whenever possible. When we feature member businesses, we either photograph them ourselves or use images provided directly by the member with their permission. We credit photographers when applicable and never use images without proper authorization.

Corrections

We're human, and sometimes we get things wrong. If you spot an error in our content:

  • Contact us at john@creativecollectivema.com or

    (978) 224-8856

  • We'll investigate promptly
  • Corrections will be made directly to the content
  • Significant corrections will be noted at the bottom of the article

We'd rather fix a mistake quickly than let inaccurate information stand.

Editorial Independence

Our editorial decisions are based on what serves our community, not on membership tier or financial considerations. A solo entrepreneur gets the same quality coverage as a larger organization. We feature members because their stories matter, not because of what they pay.

Diversity & Inclusion

Essex County's strength is its diversity. We actively work to feature businesses and individuals across industries, backgrounds, and communities. Our coverage should reflect the full richness of who makes up our regional economy.
