About this Event
Explore one of Beverly’s most architecturally and historically significant neighborhoods during the Broadway Walking Tour.
Perched atop Stevens Hill, Broadway developed during the mid-19th century as one of Beverly’s premier residential streets, connecting Cabot Street to Park Street near the railroad corridor. The neighborhood experienced substantial growth in the decades following the Civil War and became home to many of Beverly’s prominent residents, business leaders, and civic figures.
This guided walking tour will explore the history, architecture, and stories behind the homes and people who shaped the area. Along the way, participants will encounter a fascinating cast of historical figures, including an organ builder, Civil War veterans, and even an Olympic gold medalist. The tour will also include nearby Milton Street, the original entrance to Broadway and an important part of the neighborhood’s early development.
Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes and come prepared for an evening stroll through one of Beverly’s most distinctive historic landscapes.
