About this Event
Welcome to the Handwork II—a cozy after-school adventure where we use our head, heart, and hands through crafts like finger knitting, sewing and weaving! Designed for older makers, this club focuses on the process of creativity rather than the final product.
Each week, the group will dive into open-ended projects incorporating weaving, embroidery, hand sewing, needle felting, finger knitting, and more! Each project is fun, hands-on, and easy to customize so every maker can add their own creative twist.
Through guided activities and plenty of free time to work on their projects, kids will:
-
- Develop confidence in their new found skills while practicing patience, perseverance, and problem-solving
- Learn how everyday objects are made
- Practice mindfulness while creating useful and beautiful objects
- Explore how different materials can make their visions come to life
No right answers, no pressure—just gentle guidance to learn new skills and use them to create something unique!
This series is taught by Eileen who has loved all kinds of art making ever since she was little and learned to paint and sew from her Grandma. She received a degree in Sculpture from Mass Art, and then went on to become a teacher. She taught middle school art in Winchester, MA before deciding to stay home with her little kids. She loves all things fiber arts and can’t wait to share her love of making with the community!
