Summer by its very nature is decadent and delicious. Farmer’s markets are brimming with veggies, honey, and baked goods galore and restaurants and cafés on the North Shore are putting out their most tempting treats.
Ice cream, cakes, cupcakes, milkshakes (boozy and non), macarons, and so many delightful desserts are just a curbside pickup away.
Here are a few of our favorites.
A Box of Fatties from Goodnight Fatty – Salem
Did you think that “Fatties” were normal cookies? Think again. These gooey small-batch treats of circular goodness are no ordinary cookie and Goodnight Fatty offers new flavors each week (sometimes vegan too!).
You can get these morsels on Friday & Saturday 7-11 pm in the Carriage House located at 1 Washington Sq. Salem MA via walkup or curbside drop-off to your car.
Mr. Mochi Mochi Ice Cream from the Sweet Truck – Location Changes Daily
In addition to nostalgic pre-packaged sweet treats reminiscent of childhood afternoons spent chasing the ice cream truck, the Sweet Truck offers allergen-friendly ice cream experiences in the form of Mr. Mochi, a gluten free frozen treat that you won’t be able to get enough of.
The Sweet Truck is in a different city each day, so make sure to follow them on their website or Facebook to see where they’re going to be next.
Fernet Cake from Opus – Salem
This rich dessert is a Fernet Branca and coffee spiced chocolate cake with Fernet Branca Menta grasshopper mousse, star anise, and fennel meringue, and finished with a chamomile’s burnt orange reduction. The flavors are complicated, completely unexpected, and of a quality you won’t find anywhere else on the North Shore.
Opus is open for indoor & outdoor dining Sunday – Thursday 4 – 9 PM
and Friday & Saturday 4 – 10 PM. Reservations are strongly encouraged.
Brunch Donut of the Day from Ledger – Salem
It’s hard to go wrong with a donut, and with these brunch morsels Ledger just does everything right. The flavors rotate each week so you might get a Vanilla chai brioche or strawberry limeade or something equally delicious.
Saturday Brunch is from 10 am – 2pm and Sunday Brunch is from 10 am to 3pm. Reservations strongly encouraged.
Cupcake of the Day from D’Orsi’s Bakery and Deli – Peabody
There are new cupcakes daily at D’Orsi’s Bakery and Deli in Peabody alongside Italian-American bakery delights. Everyday chocolate or vanilla are overrated when you can get M&M, Funfetti, or blueberry lemon.
They’re open for takeout daily from 7:00 am to 5:00pm.
Vegan Whoopie Pies from Jodi Bee Bakes – Salem
There are so many vegan and gluten free options available daily from Jodi Bee Bakes in downtown Salem that it was hard to choose which one to feature, but when it comes to vegan and gluten free Whoopie Pies, Jodi Bee pretty much does it perfectly.
Jodi Bee Bakes is open for takeout Wednesday – Sunday from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.
Cake of the Day from Cake Ann – Gloucester
While Cake Ann in Gloucester is so much more than just cake, cake is something they do really well. From custom orders to in-store slices and cupcakes, this is the place to really indulge your sweet tooth.
They’re open Tuesday through Saturday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Saturday from 7:30 to 4:00pm, and Sunday from 7:30 to 1pm.
Bourbon Pecan Tart from the Castle: a Board Game Café – Beverly
The Castle: A Board Game Café in Beverly gives you the chance to get great dessert and a latte while playing social distance board games with your pod. This bourbon pecan tart is a fast favorite. Top it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for that perfect flavor combo.
The Castle is open daily for takeout and indoor dining from 11a-8pm. Reservations are strongly encouraged.
