The day for Mom and Moms of all kinds is coming up on Sunday, May 9th. And while Hallmark may have its own notions about who is going to get gifts on this day, you are the one really who gets to decide.

So here are some last minute gift ideas to help you celebrate the people in your life who bring you joy, the biological moms, the chosen moms, the moms who are actually dads or whose gender doesn’t matter when it comes to being motherly, the mom-friends who have taken care of you, who have nourished you, who have remembered your birthday without having to use Facebook’s about section – the mentors and nurturers and family members who have been there for you.

Let’s celebrate Moms.

Gifts for Moms from Creative Collective Members

Encourage Relaxation

The one thing Moms probably need more than anything else right now (and honestly, everyone) is a good massage and some pampering. Treat them to some yoga with Soul City Yoga, The Salty Buddha, or Wild Sea Wellness. Help them relax with a Sound Healing session from Sound Healing for the Soul, a massage from Freedom Massage or Healing Creative, or healing Reiki from Stress Management Associates of the North Shore.

Pamper them with this Calming Balm from Tasteful Skin ($19), Organic Beeswax Hand and Body Lotion from Beverly Bees ($15), or Bath Fizzies from Nine of Cups Bathing Co. ($7).

Say Thanks

There’s really nothing better than a sweet note and some flowers to say thank you to Moms. Lucky for you, there are some extraordinary floral artists nearby. Consider an arrangement, wreath, or specialty bouquet from Filled with Color (@filled.with.color), Helios Floral (@heliosfloral), or Magnolia Blooms (@therealmagnoliablooms).

We strongly encourage you to follow them on social media, not just for daily flower happiness, but to find out about delivery, custom arrangements, and drop stops in the next few weeks.

m.ink studios

To accompany the flowers, include a card from a local artist! You can pick up these in person at Emporium 32, District Trading Company, Coon’s Cards and Gifts, Moody’s Home and Gifts, and PEM shop, or online from m.ink studios or Kat Maus Haus Illustration and Design.

Share or Gift an Experience

Some Moms don’t want to just sit back and relax, sometimes they want to get out and do things or re-shape their life. Consider gifting Mom a closet refresh from LASS Stylist, a transformative creative portrait experience from Lux et Umbra, or life coaching sessions from Tradewinds Learning or The Mindful Creative, or a guided tour from the House of the Seven Gables.

We also highly recommend a personal wine tasting from Lucille Wine Shop and Tasting Room in Lynn. Rumor has it that Mother’s Day week is all about Chardonnay.

Wrap Something

We highly recommend that first you check out the Rivet Marketplace’s Mother’s Day Gift Guide. But we have some other ideas as well.

Consider a custom painted portrait from Bobbie Bush Portrait Artist, custom fine art jewelry from Jenni Stuart, or shop the Mother’s Day collection from Modern Millie Vintage.

Hypnovamp

Looking for something that’s quintessentially Salem? Pick up this Rebel Yell Boot ($59) from Die with Your Boots On, one of the Rainbow Gemstone Pendants ($140) from Hypnovamp jewelry, or this Vampire’s Kiss Clutch Wallet in Plum ($32.99) from Vampfangs.

Buy Them Lunch

Food is the language of love, let’s be honest. So if you haven’t already made brunch plans (or reserved to go boxes) at The Ledger, Salem Waterfront Hotel, or the Hawthorne Hotel, maybe it’s time to make reservations or pick up a gift certificate to one of these great restaurants or breweries.
