Meet the Maker is a new series of features highlighting some of the most amazing makers across the North Shore! We will be featuring a handful of new makers every Monday to hopefully help mitigate the added financial strain that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought to the creative community. In your own words, describe what you do.

I like to paint mystical and macabre subjects inspired by Salem and Victorian history. I paint owls, gravestones, and things that peek between the veil. Art Deco and Art Nouveau inspired. I try to paint the wind.

What inspires you to make/create?

I have too many ideas and I’m bad at using words to explain them. So I paint them instead.

How much loss are you expecting over the next month due to COVID-19?

At least $10k.

What measures are you taking to reduce lost revenue?

Taking more online commissions than normal, however that is affecting the deadlines I had in place for myself before this crisis. More video live drawing sessions to boost awareness of art that I’ll later put on ebay or on my online store.

Any advice on what could help in this troubling and challenging time?

Listen to positive music and stay away from endless hours of Carona coverage. Listen to a bit to stay informed but it’ll get you depressed very quickly if it’s too much. Maybe this is the time to start that podcast!
