Tell us a bit about you and why you do what you do? Share your passions for your business, initiative, organization.
Having been in the jewelry industry for 20 years, what has never escaped me is the honor to be part of the most pivotal moments of peoples’ lives. Each piece of jewelry tells a story of an event, a memory, a person, or a place. As such, it’s not just a piece of jewelry, it’s a treasure, a moment that becomes timeless simply by creating something unique.
We are in the business that aims for “happy tears” and joyful surprises, about which I am deeply passionate.
What role do you think your business plays in supporting a more creative community? OR your community in general. (Bonus! Why do you think a more creative community is important?)
Creativity is the foundation of our business, a venue by which people are able to explore, create, their own unique item or purchase a gift that is handmade by a local artisan.
What was the last book you read or film you watched that made an impact on you?
I’m a huge softy, and I love seeing surprise proposals- it’s pretty much all I watch these days! It reminds me how much I love what I do! It also makes me think about the jeweler behind all the magic and the time and thought that went into making these memories happen.
What’s the one thing people would be surprised to learn about you our your business?
Well, Kae is not my actual name but an abbreviation from my name, Kathleen, and the names of my twin daughters, Alexandra and Elizabeth. Ever since they were small they would refer to our home or our recipe books as “Kae’s”–it simply had to be in the name of our business.
The three birds in our logo is not just a momma bird with her chicks but a nod to Bob Marley and the Wailers’ “Three Little Birds” as that is the song I would sing to them often after their birth and still to this day, which now, we sing it together.
