Salem Heritage Days 2024 – August 3 – August 11

Salem Heritage Days is a week-long festival in Salem, Massachusetts, celebrating the city’s history, present, and future. Running for more than 50 years, this beloved tradition includes events for all ages, such as food, music, comedy, and various activities. The festival is a true community celebration, with all events produced by local organizations and the City of Salem, MA.

Saturday, August 3rd

  • Salem Maritime Festival (Free event, fun for the whole family)
    • Location: Historic Derby Wharf
    • Hosted by: National Park Service
    • Events:
    • 11:00 am – 1:00 pm: The Great Salem Maritime Cardboard Boat Regatta (races and award ceremony)
    • 12:00 noon – 6:00 pm: Demonstrators, exhibits, activities, and visiting vessel
    • 12:45 pm – 6:30 pm: Live music and entertainment
    • 12:45 pm – 2:15 pm – Squeezebox Stompers – Cajun
    • 2:30 pm – 3:15 pm – Evan the Magician
    • 3:30 pm – 4:45 pm – Sweet Soul Sounds – Motown
    • 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm – Luna Latin Jazz Band – Latin Jazz, Salsa
    • 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm: Free kayak and paddleboat rentals
    • 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm: Reopening of the Salem Custom House

Sunday, August 4th

  • Tour-A-Truck
    • Time: 12pm-3pm
    • Location: Salem Willows
    • Description: Youngsters can explore big trucks and emergency vehicles. Give-a-ways and activities for little ones.

Monday, August 5th

  • Salem Community Concert Band & Community Jazz Band
    • Time: 7pm-9pm
    • Location: Salem Willows Shell (Rain location: Salem High School Auditorium)
    • Description: Music by bands of Salem residents and others, Grade 7 through adult, directed by Cynthia Napierkowski
  • Salem Senior Event: Ice Cream Social
    • Time: 12:15pm
    • Location: Jean A Levesque Community Life
    • Details: Free for Salem Seniors 60 and older. Advanced registration required.

  • Cookout with a Cop
