From The Mindful Creative
My guest today is the speculative fiction author, futurist, and polymath, Ken Liu. Ken has one of the most beautiful minds I’ve ever encountered. As a novelist and storyteller, he’s claimed just about every award there is here in America for his groundbreaking work in the realms of fantasy and science fiction. He’s also received top genre honors in Japan, Spain, France, and many other countries. His work has been adapted into multiple film and television projects, including the Netflix breakout adult animated series LOVE DEATH + ROBOTS and AMC’s Pantheon.
When he’s not writing or with his family, you’re likely to find him speaking at conferences and universities around the world on topics ranging far and wide, from futurism, cryptocurrency, and the history of technology, to bookmaking, the art of translation, and the mathematics of origami.
Above all, Ken is deeply grounded and committed to the human experience. He is no naive optimist – his stories often challenge us to look at the darkest aspects of our lives and our histories – but he believes in humanity, and he offers hope for our collective future.
