Salem Passport Quest | Scavenger Hunt | Salem, MA

About Us

Salem Passport Quest is an interactive scavenger hunt guidebook that transforms Salem, Massachusetts into a life-size gameboard with 20 quests throughout the city. Founded in 2025 by Amanda Bondi, a full-time elementary school teacher who has lived in Salem for nearly 10 years, the project was born from a desire to share a quieter, more mysterious version of Salem with explorers. The spiral-bound guide features hand-drawn illustrations by local artist Ashlee Beadle and takes questers to off-the-beaten-path gems and famous landmarks across Salem. Hunt for clues at hidden corners, collect stamps at 10 participating locations, and rediscover your love of scavenger hunts, clue hunting, and urban exploration. All quests are walkable from downtown Salem.

The Salem Passport Quest Story

After living in Salem for nearly 10 years, Amanda Bondi found herself constantly resisting the urge to approach strangers and share her favorite hidden spots. As a full-time elementary school teacher without time to become a tour guide, she created a tour book that lets you wander with a mission. With her background in book publishing, Amanda wrote and guided the project through production, collaborating with local illustrator Ashlee Beadle who hand-drew the logo, characters, and passport location artwork. The goal was authentic interaction with Salem—no AI illustrations, just hand-drawn art and hand-written content that invites you to ask questions, do your own research, take notes, use binoculars, wear a costume, and become a Scholar, Protector, Navigator, and Time Traveler.
