About Sandmagination

Sandmagination is a one-of-a-kind indoor sandbox and sensory play space located at North Shore Mall in Peabody, Massachusetts. Founded by Katerina and Jason — parents and creative professionals — Sandmagination was built on the belief that play is not something children do to pass time, but a meaningful way they understand the world, solve problems, and express themselves. The facility features over 1,000 square feet of soft, sustainably sourced sand from the Bahamas, STEAM-inspired activities, and a calm, screen-free environment designed for children ages 10 and under.

Our Experience

Sandmagination is open 365 days a year, welcoming families, educators, therapists, and community groups. Trusted by over 12,000 visitors throughout New England, the space is intentionally quiet and unstructured — a deliberate departure from noisy, high-stimulation indoor play spaces. Children slow down, focus deeply, and engage in sustained imaginative play, often for longer than adults expect. Meanwhile, parents enjoy a dedicated café area with free Wi-Fi and direct sightlines to the sandbox.

Drop-In Play

Sandmagination welcomes both walk-ins and advance bookings. Each session includes timed play, with one adult admitted free per group. Multi-session play packs are available for returning families and never expire. Advance booking is recommended on weekends, rainy days, and holidays.

Family Memberships

Sandmagination offers monthly and annual membership tiers for regular visitors, including options for solo children, siblings, and larger families. Additionally, a Sandy Sitter membership is available for caregivers, and a Library Membership provides discounted admission through participating local libraries. All memberships include play time, café discounts, and access to members-only evenings with special programming.

Birthday Parties

Sandmagination hosts fully supported birthday parties with a dedicated party host, private sandbox access, and a range of food and décor packages. Party packages accommodate up to 15 children and 40 guests total, with options ranging from simple room rentals to full-service events including food from local partners, balloons, face painting, and custom cakes. Facility rentals for larger groups are also available on weekdays and weekends.

School & Sensory Group Visits

Sandmagination is an ideal destination for school groups, summer camps, early childhood programs, and sensory-focused organizations. The space supports STEAM learning through hands-on exploration of physics, engineering, and cause-and-effect — all through the natural medium of sand. Group visits can be arranged by contacting the facility directly.

Special Events

In addition to regular programming, Sandmagination hosts special events throughout the year including Glow Nights, Treasure Hunts, and sensory-friendly Aspire Meetup sessions. Events are posted on the website calendar and shared on social media in advance.
