“This is our collective community and public art allows us to share in that space a little bit more.” – Lauren Smedley, Creative Blocks.
Jacob DeGeal and Lauren Smedley of Creative Blocks are the new Artists in Residence for this year’s cohort on Artists’ Row. With more than 10 years of experience in their respective fields, Lauren in museums and Jacob in interactive design, the two have been plotting ways for Salem residents to engage with social distancing in a way that’s playful and inviting, rather than disconcerting.
They join Joey Phoenix on the podcast to talk about the importance of getting feedback from the community when designing popup infrastructure and functional public art and what it means exactly to be Wayfinding Artists.
