Massachusetts’ Governor Charlie Baker issued an order effective Wednesday, May 6 requiring face masks or cloth face coverings in both outdoor and indoor public places where social distancing is not possible.

Exceptions include children under the age of 2 and those unable to wear a mask or face covering due to a medical condition. Click here to read the full DPH Guidance.

The order has everyone scrambling to acquire masks from local makers or figure out how to make their own. As a result, many mask makers have experienced burnout from the flood of orders and don’t have enough supplies to meet those demands.

They are doing good work.

Luckily, many other makers have joined in the efforts, meaning that you can support local art AND follow the new orders. Mask fashion is the current fashion, and we are all spoiled for choice.

Salem Buskers wear masks too!

Editors Note: Due to the high demand, please check with each artisan first before assuming they have stock. Things are changing rapidly, and while we will try to keep this article updated for the month of May, things might not be fully up to date.

And on that subject, if you are a maker and want to be on this list, send us a message at info@creativenorthshore.com and we’ll include you.
