The holiday season has suddenly appeared and the North Shore has so many holiday events to enjoy. Here are some fun events to get you in the holiday spirit from members of the Creative Collective.

2. Salem Holiday Window Contest

During the December (and into January) holiday season the windows in Salem Ma are more than just things to look through. They become canvases for the annual Holiday Window Contest. Over 30 downtown district merchants decorated their windows with scenes of the season. This years winners are:

3. GULU GULU GRINCHMAS BEER DINNER

December 7th, 2018 @ 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Gulu-Gulu Cafe’s first annual Grinch-Mas!

Join us for a full on Who-Ville style festival. We will be turning Gulu-Gulu into Who-Ville with local vendors and at 5pm serving up a feast that is locally sourced.

Kicking the party off with a cheese plate from our friends over at Valley View paired with bread from A&J King.

Next up, farm pick up salad from Tendercrop Farms. And for the main course, Roast Beast, roasted root vegetables, and sauteed greens.

What would a Who-ville feast be without Who pudding? Chocolate mousse pudding with bourbon soaked cherries.

4. NORTHSHORE MUSIC THEATRE: A CHRISTMAS CAROL

December 7-23, 2018

New England’s brightest holiday tradition! An original adaptation based on Charles Dickens’ classic novella, A CHRISTMAS CAROL is a musical ghost story following the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge through a series of strange and magical journeys, where he ultimately discovers the true spirit of the holiday season. Featuring dazzling special effects and traditional songs like “God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman,” “The Boars Head Carol,” and “We Wish You A Merry Christmas,” this award-winning production was created specifically for North Shore Music Theatre and has been seen by more than one million people since its debut in 1989.

5. PHILLIPS HOUSE MUSEUM: SANTA IN SALEM 

December 16th, 2018

Santa Claus is coming to Phillips House! Take a photo with Santa and see the elegant Chestnut Street mansion from a pint-sized perspective.

Before or after meeting Santa, join us for cookies and cider and for a drop-in Christmas craft workshop. Historic New England staff will show you how to make your own paper angels, wrapping paper, and pop-up cards, and help you write a letter to Santa. Craft activities are recommended for families with children ages 4 to 10.

This is a drop-in event. Santa arrives at 12:30 p.m. and will sit for photos until 2:00 p.m.

Admission: $15 per family

6. CREATIVE SPIRIT THEATRICAL READING OF A CHRISTMAS CAROL

December 7, 8pm and December 8, 12pm and 4pm

A Christmas Carol, a theatrical reading in Marblehead’s historic Jeremiah Lee Mansion and is co-produced by Creative Spirit and Marblehead Museum. 
3 performances only! December 7, 8pm and December 8, 12pm and 4pm

Come be entertained by this lively and theatrical reading of Charles Dickens’ classic story about the power of love and kindness. Performed by a small ensemble of actors, A Christmas Carol will come to life throughout the stately Jeremiah Lee Mansion with the use of period costumes, clever props, caroling, and more! Guests will be treated to festive treats and beverages, and one lucky audience member will be chosen to portray the role of “Tiny Tim.” Don’t miss this fun and meaningful holiday event!

7. HOLIDAY STROLL WITH SALEM FOOD TOURS

Each Saturday in December, 2018

Join us for this fun and festive walking tour celebrating the holiday season! The afternoon includes a chowder, cheese, chocolate, wine, beer, and cider tasting, as well as time to holiday shop at the wonderful local shops we visit – some shops offering discounts as a thank you! They’ll even hold bags till end of tour to keep things light and easy. You’ll learn all about Salem’s great food scene, holiday dinners from days of old, local history and more. We may even get a visit by that rascally Ebenezer Scrooge. 
This tour takes place on December 8, 15, 22 and 29, 2018 from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm
