TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOU AND WHAT YOU DO?
Mini Movers Studio is a mobile dance studio dedicated to inspiring movement and fun for children 10 and under. In offering an array of classes, Mini Movers Studio provides top notch instruction while instilling confidence, and creativity in your little mover! The vision for Mini Movers Studio came out of Jackie’s passion for dance and her time working as a substitute teacher. While working in local elementary schools, she noticed how very little time (if any) was spent on creative movement and dance. Her goal for Mini Movers Studio is to work with public and private schools to incorporate dance and movement into students’s schedules and to expand Mini Movers Studio to all ages!
WHAT PART OF YOUR JOB WOULD YOU CONSIDER CREATIVE, AND WHY DO YOU ENJOY THAT PART OF WHAT YOU DO?
The most creative aspect of my job is dance! Every day I get to work with kids and explore movement with them. Not only do I teach them technique and choreography, but I allow them to explore movement on their own through freeze dance and improv activities. I enjoy being able to take something that I love and introduce it to a student and witness them fall in love with it as well.
HOW DOES YOUR CREATIVE WORK CONTRIBUTE TO THE GROWTH AND STABILITY OF THE CREATIVE ECONOMY?
Dance instills confidence and new ways to think. By introducing these skills at a young age, children will learn early on to think outside the box and be confident and comfortable in their ideas. This not only benefits the creative economy, but an entire community. You never know what may come out of an idea!
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PART OF RUNNING/MANAGING A LOCAL BUSINESS?
My favorite part of running a local business is the opportunity to connect and collaborate with other local businesses. It is so amazing when people can come together to create new opportunities and ventures together for their communities. As a business owner, collaboration can be key to opening your eyes to new possibilities and ideas.
