The Lifelong Learning program is back this spring, opening its doors wide to embrace participants of all skill levels. Diverse Courses for Every Artist

Whether you’re a budding artist or looking to refine your skills, the Lifelong Learning program offers many courses tailored to diverse interests and skill levels. From weaving to bookbinding, soft sculpture to ceramics, there’s a course for everyone. Each class is led by a mix of Montserrat alumni, current instructors, and regional artists, all eager to share their knowledge and passion for art.

Highlighted Courses This Spring

  • Weaving Outside the Frame with Emma Oliver: Dive into the world of 3D sculptural objects through weaving. Explore various techniques and materials, culminating in creating a final piece. Classes run on Tuesdays from April 2nd to May 21st, 2024, at a tuition of $445, materials included.
  • Bookbinding with Emily Fox: Discover the art of bookmaking, from folded structures to sewn bindings. This class is perfect for creating unique sketchbooks, journals, or sculptures. It will be offered on Thursdays from April 4th to May 23rd, 2024, for $445, with materials provided.
  • Soft Sculpture: Crafting from Fiber with Bo Shilkey: Unleash your creativity with flexible, dynamic fabric and fiber sculptures. This course is ideal for wearable art or unique 3D shapes. Join on Fridays from April 5th to May 24th, 2024, at $445, including materials.
  • Sun and Sea Prints: Cyanotypes with Patricia Scialo: Blend art with nature in this two-day course focused on cyanotype sun printing. A perfect blend of historic technique and contemporary artistry, available on April 6th and 7th for $125, materials included.
  • Molding Multiples: Slip Casting Ceramics with Winslow Funaki: Master the slip casting technique to create unique ceramic sculptures. This hands-on course runs on Saturdays from April 27th to May 18th, 2024, at a tuition of $445, including materials.
