Salem Arts Festival
The
Project
Since 2019, Creative Collective has co-produced the Salem Arts Festival with Salem Main Streets, helping turn downtown Salem into a free, three-day celebration of visual art, performance, creative business, and community connection.
The festival welcomes more than 10,000 people annually and supports more than 150 artists and performers. It includes live music, dance, theatre, a juried gallery, an artisan street fair, community art-making, the Mural Slam, and programming throughout downtown.
Creative Collective’s role is both creative and operational: lead fundraising, sponsorship development and fulfillment, festival website and marketing, vendor applications and curation, artist and performer coordination, community engagement, production logistics, documentation, and on-site execution. Salem Main Streets and Creative Collective share the work with public agencies, cultural institutions, businesses, and community partners.

Project Timeline
Actions
An event of this size does not come together through promotion alone. Creative Collective leads year-round fundraising and sponsorship strategy, builds and maintains the festival website and marketing systems, recruits and communicates with vendors and performers, manages applications, coordinates production details, tracks sponsor benefits, and helps staff the festival from setup through breakdown.
In 2026, the vendor process handled 213 applications while the sponsorship workflow tracked 69 sponsor records. Those systems give artists, businesses, sponsors, volunteers, cultural partners, and city teams a shared path from planning to festival weekend.
Creative Collective also draws on its member ecosystem for design, photography, video, content, marketing, production, performers, and vendors. We do not just create the plan. We bring the people and the toolbox needed to execute it.
Impact
- Co-produced a free, three-day downtown festival annually with Salem Main Streets since the partnership officially began in 2019.
- Welcomed more than 10,000 attendees annually, activating downtown Salem through visual art, music, dance, theatre, markets, and community participation.
- Supported more than 150 artists and performers while keeping the festival free and accessible to the public.
- Managed 213 vendor applications in 2026, building a clear pathway for makers and creative businesses to participate.
- Led fundraising and tracked fulfillment across 69 sponsor records in 2026, connecting financial support to a visible, community-wide experience.
Salem Arts Festival works because the creative work and the operational work are treated as one project. Artists and performers get paid and seen, vendors gain direct sales opportunities, sponsors understand their impact, and residents and visitors get a free downtown gathering that feels distinctly Salem.
The humans matter more than the businesses — but this festival supports both.
