This year on April 22 is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day and organizations around the United States are creating ways to celebrate the earth virtually. We’ve rounded up a few of our favorites here, but you can also follow #EarthDayAtHome on Social Media.

Spread Kindness with Alice’s Table – Magnolia Blooms

In this live stream, Jeannine O’Neil of Alice’s Table – Magnolia Blooms will show you two ways to create mini arrangements. We will be using easy-to-find ingredients around the house, yard, grocery store and/or garden center. Jeannine will also be featuring local artist Kate Aurelia Studio’s original handmade vessels to use (available in limited quantities).

We’re inviting every to make their own mariposas while reflecting on the role that migration has played in their life, whether personally, familially, or ancestrally.  Above is a quick video about how to make a mariposa pin from recycled fabric. Other possible materials include cardboard, plastic water bottles, aluminum cans, and old magazines. Because we’re doing this to celebrate Earth Day, we encourage you to use recycled materials as much as possible!

Take a tour of the National Parks with the National Park Service

Get up close and personal with parks through virtual tours. Learn more about the history of these legendary places and how essential their protection and preservation is in ensuring these sites are enjoyed for generations to come.

Much as our Earth’s systems are interconnected so, too, are all of us. To help connect us virtually this Earth Day, we encourage you to share on social media photos and images of how you marked the 50th anniversary, using the hashtag #EarthDayAtHome. This could be a picture of a special science activity, an original work of art you created, the tree outside your window, or whatever inspires you.

Attend a Workshop at the Unified Planet Festival

In honor of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, Civana Foundation is launching the Earth Day Unified Planet (UP) Festival on Wednesday, April 22. This will be a free, full-day global immersive experience focused on wellness, impact, and arts. The Celebration is bringing together leaders in environmental impact, community building, transformative innovation, and mindfulness to reimagine and catalyze change on a planetary scale.
