About this Event
Presented by the North Shore AAPI Coalition in recognition of Salem’s 400th anniversary. This community history project retraces BIPOC presence in Salem during the Old China Trade era (1784-1844), when Salem rose to prominence as a wealthy port city. The exhibition features contemporary artwork from BIPOC artists Alex Chiu, Elizabeth Solomon and Sarah Kanouse, Kimberly Villafuerte Barzola, Yamanda Wright, and Yanna Marie Orcel in relation to the historical record, bridging past and present representation.
