About this Event
North Shore poets gather at the Salem Athenaeum on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 7 pm for a memorial reading marking the first anniversary of poet Jennifer Martelli’s passing. Hosted by January Gill O’Neil and Salem Poet Laureate J.D. Scrimgeour, the evening brings together local poets to celebrate Jenn’s life, work, friendship, and lasting presence in the region’s literary community. Registration is through the Salem Athenaeum.
What to expect
Poets from across the North Shore will read from Martelli’s work and share remembrances, with members of her family in attendance. Martelli was a longtime member of The Thursday Poets and a central figure in the North Shore poetry scene.
