About this Event

Explore Salem’s maritime and literary history with Stephanie Clements portraying Susanna Ingersoll, a cousin of Nathaniel Hawthorne and heir to a seafaring fortune. This costumed walking tour connects the city’s Age of Sail with Hawthorne’s life and work, concluding at the Turner-Ingersoll Mansion, better known as the House of the Seven Gables.

  • When: Sundays, 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m., through November 1, 2026.
  • Meet: Outside 12 Hawthorne Boulevard, Salem, MA 01970.
  • Tickets: $40 per person; ages 10 and older.
  • Route: Approximately one mile, rain or shine. The route is not fully wheelchair accessible; contact the organizer with access questions.
