In your own words…  what do you do? Describe the thing(s) you “make/create”

I am an artist creating images with a single line using the blind contour method. Using this method, I create images without lifting my pen from the paper, while not looking at the paper until I am finished.  I then add color afterward with paint.  I really enjoy creating images of animals using this method.  Blind contour allows a certain freedom, while still letting the subject’s true essence to shine through.

Another subject that I love is architecture and city scenes.  I post all of my work on Instagram primarily and don’t have a website at this time, but I would love to be commissioned to create pet and architectural images for people.

The world is curious — what inspires you to “make/create”?

I am a very visual person and find inspiration every day in the zest my animal companions have for life.  I love playing with colors when creating animal portraits as well as cityscapes and I find color to be a unique way to play with light/shadow.

I have my BA in art history and love learning about art. By creating art, I get to play into my intellectual curiosity by learning more about the subject I am drawing/painting, whether it is an animal or a particular city scene.

What do you think could help everyone in this challenging time?

Just keep your head up. I am in an art block lately, so when I feel the slight desire to draw something, I jump on it, even if it’s just a quick sketch. Keeping it simple allows my brain to keep calm and art on.
