In your own words, tell us about your business, organization, or initiative.
Salem Historical Tours has been around a long time. As a group, we love to provide guests with information about our city. We’re committed to being as accurate as possible and are engaged in the community, supporting various initiatives and organizations.
Tell us a bit about you and why you do what you do. Share your passions for your business, organization, or initiative.
I have always enjoyed history from a young age and I believe I have a very old soul. I simply love to share information and my experiences with others. For me it is like giving someone a gift on their birthday because you are more excited to see them open it so you can see their expressions. Teaching and lecturing about the 1692 Witchcraft Trials is so important in our world because scapegoating continues to occur. Maybe teaching and reaching as many people as we can will help to stop many from accusing others before they know the facts.
What is the last thing you read, watched, or listened to that had an impact on you?
There have been so many influences in my life that it is hard to say which had the most impact or the latest impact. I am truly a fan of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s quote “Every individual has a place to fill in the world, and is important in some respect, whether he chooses to be so or not.” In addition, my father provided me and my children with a two-word phrase before he passed that has stuck with me. “Sia importante!” that means Be Important in Italian.
What’s the one thing people would be surprised to learn about you or your business?
I think people would be most surprised to learn that I am a SAG-AFTRA actor (I’ve been in many movies and TV shows) and a retired CPA. I worked as an auditor for a national CPA firm as well as the state of Massachusetts. So how does that translate into history? It’s all storytelling. You can tell a story with numbers or words or both. I can do a lot of left and right brain tasks, but don’t ask me to dance, sculpt or paint because it won’t go well.
