In your words… Tell us about your organization, business, initiative.
SaVor Designs is a costume and bespoke clothing design business that focuses on creating unique pieces for every client.
Tell us a bit about you and why you do what you do? Share your passions for your business, initiative, organization.
I grew up with a Grandmother that blessed me with her gift as a seamstress. She armed me with knowledge and a way to express myself that I feel very lucky to share with my clients. Let’s just say, it’s in my blood.
What role do you think your business plays in supporting a more creative community?
For me, as a designer and creator… when I see the look on a client’s face as they try on their piece for the first time… it is rewarding beyond measure. It is the magic that continues to inspire and drive me!
What was the last book you read OR What was the last video you watched that made an impact on you?
I am attracted to books and films with strong, unique, and passionate characters… Some favorites include – as a child Charlotte’s Web, as a young adult Bridge to Terabithia, as an adult Outlander. More recently, I read The Nightingale and cried for days. Books that move me tend to stay with me forever.Films… where do I start? Gone with the Wind inspired me to make my first hoop skirt, Casablanca was the first film to make me swoon, and Lord of the Rings was the first film that sparked my imagination in a way that nothing else had before!
What’s the one thing people would be surprised to learn about you our your business?
Maybe not surprising, but most of my inspiration comes from my travels abroad. I try to get to Europe at least once a year. I would live in Scotland in a heartbeat in the right opportunity came my way! My high school yearbook quote “I plan to travel anywhere my feet or my imagination will take me!”
