Seana Weaver (she/her)
In your own words, tell us about your business, organization, or initiative.
After more than two decades in nonprofit leadership, I work with mission-driven leaders to help them navigate the victories, fears, and frustrations that come with ethical leadership. My company offers 1:1 coaching and group facilitation for teams that are working to make a positive impact on the community and the world.
Tell us a bit about you and why you do what you do. Share your passions for your business, organization, or initiative.
I’m a trained facilitator and a trained cook, and I’ve spent the last 15 years working in food access because food systems and feeding people are deeply important to me. Alongside that work, I’ve become passionate about helping teams function at their best—listening to one another, learning from one another, and moving through hard conversations with courage. I believe that almost any work, especially when it’s mission-driven, is more than just a job—it’s part of who we are. My coaching and consulting practice is about supporting leaders to show up as their best selves and to lead from both their hearts and their minds. That’s where I believe real, lasting change begins.
What is the last thing you read, watched, or listened to that had an impact on you?
Right now I’m reading Future Good by Trista Harris. It’s quick read, but it’s a great introduction to Futurism and supports leaders to change their approach to design thinking and problem solving. I recently listened to RuPaul’s memoir, The House of Hidden Meanings. RuPaul tells his own story with thoughtfulness and compassion. He’s able to reflect on incredibly difficult behavior (his own and others) and learn from it. Also – there’s a catty story about Madonna that’s incredibly entertaining.
What’s the one thing people would be surprised to learn about you or your business?
Most people are surprised to learn that I founded a marathon in 2020, and ran it solo twice. Since then, we’ve held 3 races that were open to the public and this May we’ll hold our 4th event. It’s the Woodstock CT Marathon & Relay, it runs through my hometown (Woodstock), and it’s 26.2 miles with more than 1500 feet of elevation gain and loss (that means it’s super challenging). The Marathon supports Community Kitchens of Northeastern CT and is always an incredible community event.
