Interviewee: Stephanie Voyer (She/Her/Hers)
Who are you and what do you make?
I am a maker, designer, artist, creator… and am so proud to be a part of the Salem creative community.
As a costume designer and milliner (I make hats!), I create looks for a wide range of clients… from a unique bride to cosplay to drag queens to Halloween enthusiasts to Salem tourists!
Without support of local makers and artists, we will lose our identity… our identity reflects the entire community.

What inspires you to create?
I am personally most inspired by color. Color can impact our emotions and mood. It can bring us to a time and place in our memory or in our future dreams. Color makes the eyes sing!!
I am also inspired by working with so many diverse and interesting clients. I start with an original concept and then it grows and organically changes as I work through the design process with my client to develop a truly personal design.
Why do you think it’s important to support local makers?
Without support of local makers and artists, we will lose our identity… our identity reflects the entire community. The diversity, the culture, the current emotion of our city, is captured by those that live here. Salem attracts tourists not only because of the history, but because of the community that exists RIGHT NOW.
Where can people support your work and find out more about you?
