The House of the Seven Gables celebrates Salem’s So Sweet and pays tribute to Valentine’s Day with lots of family activities on Feb. 8.

SALEM — For those worried about messing up on Valentine’s Day, the fretting can stop now. The House of the Seven Gables has this.

The whole family is welcome to get their collective Valentine’s Day act together on Saturday, February 8, when the Museum joins all of Salem in celebrating Salem’s So Sweet. Gables’ visitors can shop for unique gifts in the Museum Shop, make Valentine’s Day cards and crafts, even decorate a cookie with a special message for a special person. The festivities last all day, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at The House of the Seven Gables, 115 Derby St., in Salem. Some parking is available.

Free Museum Campus Passes: Guests are invited to download The Gables’ audio tour at no charge and explore the National Historic Register campus. The historic waterfront setting and notable architecture onsite afford plenty of photo ops to share on Facebook and Instagram.

Museum Shop Discoveries: The Gables’ Museum Shop has long been noted for its fine collection of literature and its specially curated gifts that reflect the history, the setting and the unique personality of Salem and the Turner-Ingersoll mansion.

Family Valentine Crafts: For those with a creative bent, consider the Family Valentine Workshop that will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Make your own Valentine’s Day gifts. Please note that registration is required. Those interested may contact Salem Parks, Recreation and Community Services: http://bit.ly/36IAwNS

Valentine’s Cookie Decorating:  Decorate a cookie for your Valentine. It’s also okay to give in to temptation and eat it. Salem’s So Sweet is all about sweet treats in the dead of winter. The cookie-decorating festivities take place from 1 to 3 p.m. in The Gables’ Visitor Center.

Ice Sculpture Viewing:  Yes. It’s the dead of winter. Tour the walkable city of Salem and admire the many stunning ice sculptures erected throughout the city. The Gables once again partners with Ye Olde Pepper Company to present their own sculpture. Visit Salem Main Streets for more details about all of Salem’s So Sweet events as well as the locations of the ice sculptures: http://salemmainstreets.org/festivals/salem-so-sweet/
