About Soundscape Visions
Soundscape Visions is an interdisciplinary artistic collective dedicated to pioneering the fusion of sight and sound through immersive live performance. Founded in 2022 by violist Alexander Vavilov, the collective weaves original music with video art and innovative media design to forge unique visual and acoustic landscapes that unfold in real time. Furthermore, Soundscape Visions is rooted in a deep belief that art can forge human connection across cultures, borders, and disciplines.
Our Experience
The Soundscape Visions collective brings together three accomplished artists whose individual careers span the world’s most prestigious stages, institutions, and galleries. Together they have performed at venues including Carnegie Hall, Boston Symphony Hall, Jordan Hall, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the MIT Museum, the Geneva International Film Festival, and many more. Additionally, the collective has built meaningful international partnerships — most notably with Aza Nizi Maza, an extraordinary art school based in Kharkiv, Ukraine.

The Artists
Soundscape Visions is brought to life by three artists whose combined expertise spans classical performance, composition, and visual art:
- Alexander Vavilov — Violist and founder; faculty at Winchester Community Music School; performs with Boston Pops, Boston Ballet, Boston Modern Orchestra Project, and more; originally from Ukraine
- Ara Sarkissian — Pianist and composer; draws from classical, jazz, folk, and improvised traditions to create fluid, expressive soundscapes
- François-Xavier de Costerd — International video artist and educator; MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Lumen Prize shortlist; works in multi-channel video installation and large-scale experiential media
Soundscape Visions Live Performance
Each Soundscape Visions performance unfolds on an enormous screen, supported by a live, original soundscape created in real time. Visual art and music are developed simultaneously and interactively, with each element informing the other throughout the creative process. Consequently, the finished composition is not a film with a score — it is a living, breathing collaboration between sight and sound that audiences experience as a single unified work.
Kazky — The Fairytales of Ukrainian Children
The collective’s most ambitious project to date is Kazky — a multi-composition collaboration with Aza Nizi Maza, an acclaimed art school operating out of a bomb shelter in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Drawing from the school’s extraordinary Lost Fairytales and Underground Gardens collections, Soundscape Visions is transforming large-scale children’s drawings into immersive audio-visual compositions. Moreover, the project is both an artistic undertaking and a humanitarian statement — a commitment to amplifying the voices of children creating defiantly life-affirming art in the face of war.
What Makes Soundscape Visions Special
Soundscape Visions occupies a genuinely rare space — where classical music, experimental composition, cinematic video art, and live performance converge into something that resists easy categorization. The collective’s work is not background or decoration; it is an experience designed to move audiences and create lasting emotional connection. Additionally, the organization’s deep commitment to humanitarian collaboration and cross-cultural storytelling gives every project a purpose that extends well beyond the stage.
