Chambers of Terror is Salem’s longest continually running haunted house, founded in 1993 by Ed Gannon — a professional with over 30 years of experience in the haunted attraction industry, including the original Spooky World in Massachusetts. Operating under Salem Gothic LLC, Chambers of Terror offers three distinct experiences for visitors to the Witch City: the Chambers of Terror Haunted House, the Vampire Ghost Adventures Walking Tour, and Fireside Ghost Stories. Each experience is crafted with the same commitment to quality, authenticity, and unforgettable entertainment.

Chambers of Terror Haunted House

Salem’s scariest and longest continually running haunted house. Created by professionals with over 30 years of experience in the Halloween industry, the attraction features movie-quality scenes, live monsters, and nightmarish creatures in the heart of historic Salem. Uniquely, the scare level is fully adjustable — from a full-intensity Level 10 to a family-friendly Level 1 “meet the monsters” experience, with a magic light to guide the way. Nothing will touch you. Seasonal shows include the standard Terror Tour, the full-intensity October Halloween Horror show, Darkside of the Yuletide in December, and Love is Blind in February.

Vampire Ghost Adventures Walking Tour

Of the 62 tours in Salem, this is the only one that actually enters a real haunted building and shows guests a collection of haunted objects with the stories behind them. Led by a vampire guide carrying a lantern, the 1.3-mile walking tour covers vampires, ghosts, poltergeists, and supernatural phenomena collected from Salem’s last 200 years of history. Additionally, the tour concludes inside Chambers of Terror itself — the only walking tour in Salem to enter a building. Tours run seasonally and are available by appointment. Fireside Ghost Stories

One of the most unique and intimate experiences in Salem. Master storyteller Ed Gannon performs three live ghost stories by candlelight in the Study at Chambers of Terror, seated in the tradition of colonial-era fireside storytelling. Complimentary period-appropriate food and drink are included. Groups are kept small — 14 guests maximum — to preserve the integrity of the experience. Moreover, seasonal variations include Ghosts of Yule in December and Love You to Death in February, which includes a small chocolate tasting. Available year-round by appointment.

Seasonal & Holiday Shows

In addition to regular programming, Chambers of Terror hosts seasonal haunted house events throughout the year. Darkside of the Yuletide runs on select weekends in December, and Love is Blind — a lights-out haunted house experience — runs on select weekends in February. Custom shows and private events can be arranged with advance notice.

Private & Custom Events

Chambers of Terror welcomes private bookings for birthdays, bachelorette parties, corporate events, and custom group experiences. The bride always gets in free with her group at any Chambers of Terror event. Additionally, Ed’s background in special effects design, scripting, and attraction engineering means truly one-of-a-kind experiences can be created for the right occasion.
