In your words… Tell us about your organization, business, initiative.

Tell us a bit about you and why you do what you do? Share your passions for your business, initiative, organization.

As the owner of a small fashion business, my favorite part of my job is seeing a client’s face light up when they look in the mirror and feel amazing in what they’re wearing. I worked for a tailor for many years and as a result I specialize in creating pieces for any and every body type. Alternative Bridal projects are my absolute favorite thing to do.

What role do you think your business plays in supporting a more creative community? OR your community in general. (Bonus! Why do you think a more creative community is important?)

My business encourages people to embrace their edgy side and stand out in their day to day life. I also love collaborating with other artists to bring unique art and events like fashion shows to the community. I’ve run several fundraising fashion shows and it’s amazing to see how beneficial it is for everyone involved! Art and creativity make a huge and positive impact and I’m so lucky to be a part of that.

What was the last book you read or film you watched that made an impact on you?

The last video I watched was about sustainability in the Fashion Industry. It’s so important as designers that we know where are products are coming from, and now that I’m expanding to production outside of my studio, it was so helpful to know what to ask from production houses in terms of making sure their practices are ethical and sustainable.

What’s the one thing people would be surprised to learn about you our your business?

Most people are really surprised to learn that I didn’t learn how to sew until I was 18! I taught myself the summer in-between high school and college to make sure I’d be able to keep up with the Fashion Design program at MassArt.
