Winter in Massachusetts can feel endless, but Marblehead residents have something to smile about as the Marblehead Little Theatre partners with Silly Theater Productions to bring you a weekend filled with laughter on March 14-15. This annual Comedy Weekend fundraiser features stand-up comedy and improvisational performances in an intimate theater setting that puts you right in the heart of the action.
Friday Night: Stand-Up Comedy Showcase
Kick off your weekend on Friday, March 14 with an exceptional lineup of stand-up talent headlined by Amy Tee, one of New England’s most sought-after comedians. As featured on LOGO TV and recognized by Curve magazine as one of the “funniest lesbians in America,” Amy brings her unique perspective and engaging style to the Marblehead stage.
Her approach turns personal challenges into hilarious stories that connect with diverse audiences. Beyond entertainment, Amy serves as a mental wellness advocate, using her platform as an official presenter for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) to combine laughter with awareness.
Joining Amy are Boston comedy circuit favorites:
- Matt McArthur – Possibly the only professional bagpiper-comedian in Boston, Matt brings a unique blend of talents to his performance
- Dan Donahue – Known as the “man-mountain,” Dan has opened for numerous Boston headliners and performed in the Hampton Beach Comedy Festival
- Mona Forgione – Rounding out this stellar lineup with her sharp wit and observational humor
Saturday Night: Improvisation with Accidentally on Purpose
On Saturday, March 15, prepare for an entirely different comedy experience as the celebrated improv troupe Accidentally on Purpose (AOP) takes the stage. If you’re a fan of “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”, you’ll love this interactive show where the audience doesn’t just watch—they participate!
For 15 years, AOP has been entertaining New England audiences with their quick-thinking comedy and inclusive performance style. The troupe’s founders have impressive Boston stage credentials, including productions like the Awesome 80’s Prom and Claddagh Bing Irish/Italian Wedding Show.
What makes AOP particularly special is the diverse backgrounds of its performers. The troupe includes teachers, authors, professors, tradespeople, salespeople, and corporate executives—each bringing their unique perspective to create comedy gold in the moment.
