Beverly Cultural District Announces Two Major Creative Opportunities for Artists and Designers
Beverly’s Cultural District is seeking talented, creative professionals for two significant projects that will shape the visual landscape of downtown Beverly. These opportunities – a large-scale public mural and a comprehensive brand identity redesign – allow artists and designers to make lasting contributions to Beverly’s thriving arts community. More information here.
Public Mural Opportunity in Downtown Beverly
Beverly’s Cultural District Partnership Committee is seeking a qualified artist to design and install a vibrant new mural on the exterior wall of a downtown Beverly business. This high-visibility public art project will become a focal point in the city’s cultural landscape.
Project Details
The mural will be installed on a wall measuring approximately 12’10” x 49’10”, beginning in June 2025. The project will be highlighted during Beverly Main Streets’ annual Arts Fest on Saturday, June 14, when the selected artist will actively work on-site to inspire community engagement.
Located in the heart of Beverly’s Cultural District, the mural will add vibrancy to an area already rich with independent businesses, historic theaters, the public library, Beverly Historical Society, City Hall, and Montserrat College of Art.
Artist Compensation & Requirements
The selected artist will receive a $4,000 stipend covering artist fees, travel, accommodations (if applicable), site preparation, supplies, and installation. Eligible applicants must be US residents aged 18+ with demonstrated experience in painting. Artists of color and artists from marginalized communities are especially encouraged to apply.
The selection committee will evaluate submissions based on technical skill, thematic relevance, project alignment, and experience with similar installations.
Application Deadline: April 14, 2025
Project Completion: July 31, 2025
Logo & Brand Identity Design Opportunity
Simultaneously, the Beverly Cultural District is seeking a creative, qualified graphic designer, design firm, or agency to develop a dynamic new logo and establish a cohesive brand identity that will enhance awareness of this vibrant arts destination. Full RFP can be found here.
Project Scope
Established in 2014 through a partnership between the City of Beverly, Beverly Main Streets, and Montserrat College of Art, the Cultural District is looking to refresh its visual identity. The selected designer will work closely with stakeholders to create:
- A distinctive graphic logo that captures the spirit of Beverly’s cultural community
- A comprehensive brand identity, including color palette and typography
- A versatile visual system adaptable for various marketing materials
The project includes collaborative stakeholder sessions, concept presentations, and refinement of the selected design. Final deliverables will consist of vector files in multiple formats, complementary color palettes, and appropriate font files.
Designer Compensation & Requirements
This opportunity offers $3,000 compensation (inclusive of all project-related expenses). The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in graphic design, marketing, and/or brand development and have experience creating cohesive visual identities. Individual artists are especially encouraged to apply.
