Describe the things you make/create.
Im a Hand Lettering Artist, Designer and Painter. I create hand-lettered designs and incorporate them into small-batch products, like pins, art prints, banners & pennants, bags, etc. I also offer lettering services for signage, logos, home decor, events, you name it. My process always starts with pencil on paper, so there is a handmade feel to my aesthetic.
What inspires you?
I love the vintage (60s, 70s) aesthetic and creating things by hand. I genuinely enjoy the analog production of art (vs drawing on a tablet) and am passionate about keeping artistic traditions alive. Quotes, flowers, and layout design have always been interests of mine and have been a lifelong inspiration.
How much will the COVID-19 pandemic affect your business financially this month?
I expect about $850 in losses.
What measures are you taking to reduce lost revenue?
I’m not sure if I qualify for an aide/relief because I am still employed by my day job. My #1 market each year was cancelled for April and I had a delay in a highpaying vinyl lettering installation job at a school. I’m working on fresh new designs to post on Instagram to boost my portfolio and also post new items for sale in my online shops. I’m using this time to build skills and get my name out…that’s goal anyway.
What do you think could help everyone in this challenging time?
Share eachother’s work, make purchases to support directly when you can. Spend time working on portfolio and self-assigning the kind of work you want to make.
