In your words… Tell us about your organization, business, initiative.

I started bleaching after tripping upon a YouTube tutorial. I thought it was fascinating how beautiful the images appeared before your eyes. There’s something about a bleached image, I don’t know why it speaks to so many people but it does. I am forever grateful for that fact, I’ve had the most wonderful time meeting new people at every fair and convention.

Tell us a bit about you and why you do what you do? Share your passions for your business, initiative, organization.

I started bleaching and selling T-shirts on a whim; it has turned into something more magical and wonderful than I ever imagined. I love images of moons and trees and mountains – they play nicely with bleached imagery. I used to own an alpaca farm and sell alpaca products. I have written novels…but something about making these shirts is more satisfying than all my previous artistic endeavors.

What role do you think your business plays in supporting a more creative community? OR your community in general. (Bonus! Why do you think a more creative community is important?)

I’ve always been an artist. I’ve chosen this medium, bleaching, and all the image choices are up to me as well. My choices have been described as weird by some but when I go to Salem, or a horror convention, or a so-called hippie gathering, I am welcomed. People love to wear my shirts because they feel empowered. We are not weird. We love nature and we love life’s mysteries.

What was the last book you read that made an impact on you?

I just finished reading The Accidental Connoisseaur by Lawrence Osborne wherein he recites his adventures in wine. I love the art of wine! Anyone’s wine! Including the rustic dandelion concoction my Pepere used to make in his herb-filled basement.

What’s the one thing people would be surprised to learn about you our your business?

I was raised in a zoo. LOL! My parents were both school teachers and were friends with the owners of Southwick‘s Zoo. When I was growing up, the zoo family also owned a Christmas theme park in Vermont. So, when school let out many times we spent summers working at one park or another. I thought it was normal back then, growing up that way, as an adult I am very grateful for that childhood.
