“Welcome to Grapeland”
An artist commune currently living in the heart and mind of Julee Avallone. When you buy jewelry, artwork or music you are donating money to make this dream come true.
Tell us a bit about you and why you do what you do? Share your passions for your business, initiative, organization.
I create a large and ever expanding variety of items including: jewelry, paintings, statues, recycled goods, crochet and music. My best selling product is rings. I have over 4000 magic rings organized by gemstone type and meaning available in all sizes 0-16. If you can’t find what your looking for I will make it for you.
What role do you think your business plays in supporting a more creative community? OR your community in general. (Bonus! Why do you think a more creative community is important?)
Our Salem community provides an experience you can’t find anywhere else in the world. People travel to Salem because they are searching for something. Magic, knowledge, self help, deeper understanding, answers, open minds or an experience they can’t have at home. I really enjoy meeting people, hearing their stories and paring them with the item that enhances their experience and makes them feel good about themselves.
What was the last book you read OR What was the last video you watched that made an impact on you?
Omg so many! Golden compass, Terry Pratchett, Clive Barker, the Witcher. I always listen to audible when making art. I try to make my version of the fantasy worlds bloom through my art.
What’s the one thing people would be surprised to learn about you our your business?
I have played in bands with many members of Phish and the Grateful Dead.
