In your own words, tell us about your business, organization, or initiative.
Mental Makeover is a nonprofit working to end the stigma surrounding mental health and empowering youth to talk openly about their emotions and experiences with their own mental health.
Tell us a bit about you and why you do what you do. Share your passions for your business, organization, or initiative.
As someone who witnessed mental health struggles within my family growing up, I’ve always felt a passion to understand what they went through and use that to help others understand.
What is the last thing you read, watched, or listened to that had an impact on you?
I am currently reading a book called Evicted by Matthew Desmond about poverty and profit in American cities. It’s based in Milwaukee and takes you along the journey of 5 families struggling with poverty and housing. This has had an impact on me because of the power of community and how community can help provide supplemental resources for those in need.
What’s the one thing people would be surprised to learn about you or your business?
