In your words… Tell us about your organization, business, initiative.

North Shore Pride was started in response to hate crimes against LGBTQ persons on the North Shore of Massachusetts. The mission of North Shore Pride is to provide education and advocacy on behalf of LGBTQ persons on the North Shore and to foster a unified community.

Tell us a bit about you and why you do what you do? Share your passions for your business, initiative, organization.

I started North Shore Pride because I am not only a member of the community but I have always been invested in making the community more welcoming for LGBTQ persons. My masters theses was an examination of LGBTQ Youth Suicide. I have always worked for disadvantaged populations and so when I realized that LGBTQ hate crimes were on the rise on the North Shore I started North Shore Pride as a vehicle to provide education and advocacy and build a safer community for all.

What role do you think your business plays in supporting a more creative community? OR your community in general.

Creativity breeds expression and North Shore Pride is founded on freedom of expression and the ability for all LGBTQ persons to feel free and safe to express themselves and to be their true selves.

What’s the one thing people would be surprised to learn about you our your business?

North Shore Pride is 8 years old this year and was started in my living room by like-minded members of the community.
