The Creative Collective team had the privilege of documenting the North Shore Juneteenth Association’s “Hats, Heels, Bow Ties, & Blazers Tea” at Salem’s historic Hawthorne Hotel. These images showcase the vibrant intersection of community, purpose, and celebration that defines this organization’s important work.
Founded by Nicole McClain in 2017, the North Shore Juneteenth Association has become a vital voice in our region, creating spaces where education and celebration naturally intertwine. Their commitment to teaching about Juneteenth’s significance while fostering community dialogue continues to ripple through the North Shore.
What strikes us about these photographs is how they capture not just fashionable attire but genuine moments of connection. Between Michelle LaPoetica’s powerful spoken word and Gail Jackson-Blount’s insightful keynote, attendees engaged in conversations that strengthen our collective understanding and appreciation of Black American culture.
As creatives, we value the opportunity to support member organizations whose work creates more inclusive communities. These images stand as documentation and invitation, showing the meaningful connections that happen when we gather with purpose.
